Combined Cadet Force Contingent Commander

Wolsingham School’s Combined Cadet Force (CFF) was established in 2015 and is one of our most popular extra-curricular activities. Currently we have around 50 cadets parading regularly who are supported by CFAV’s from both within the school and external volunteers.

Parades are held weekly on Thursdays after school with additional sessions held for NCO’s and prospective NCO’s on Tuesday evenings. We run residential weekend camps once a term taking advantage of our local MOD training areas. These vary between ‘first look’ events aimed at supporting cadets through their first exercise experience to more advanced programmes for those more senior.

The CCF has its own dedicated office in the school, and we recently using CFA funding to purchase a teaching space and store to be located externally to the main school building. There is access to large areas of playing fields within the grounds which we utilise for training as well as classrooms for indoor learning. For skills at Arms training, we have the capacity to store air rifles on site, and to run an indoor range.

Our aim is to instil in our cadets both the cadet force core values of selfless commitment, respect for others, loyalty, discipline, courage and integrity alongside our school core values of working hard, getting involved, being kind and taking responsibility; to better prepare them for life after school. We have seen the benefits of this through our students successfully progressing into careers in both the armed forces as well as many other career paths.

Our Contingent Commander is an integral part of the CCF team. Organising events, delivering lessons and supporting our cadets pastorally and a key link between the school and the cadet training team.
